NEW YORK, NY – Tim Warner, former CEO of Cinemark and currently a consultant for Cinemark Holdings, Inc., will receive this year’s “Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award” at ShowEast. Warner will be presented with this special honor as a part of the Final Night Awards Ceremony hosted by the Coca-Cola Company on Thursday, October 20 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Established in 1987, the Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award is presented each year to a company or individual in the industry that has made an impact in the philanthropic community.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce that Tim Warner is being awarded the Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award at ShowEast this year,” said Andrew Sunshine, Vice President of The Film Expo Group. “Tim is such a deserving person to be recognized with this honor. We could not have found a better individual to recognize at this year’s convention.”

Warner joined Cinemark in 1996 as Senior Vice President and President of Cinemark International. He led Cinemark’s efforts to build its international operations for over 10 years primarily in Mexico, Central and South America establishing operations and management teams throughout the region. Today, Cinemark International is one of the leading exhibition companies in Latin America with 1278 screens and 178 theatres. He currently serves as a consultant to the management team of Cinemark Holdings, Inc., headquartered in Plano, Texas to insure a seamless transition to the next generation of Cinemark leadership. Prior to his consultancy, Warner served as Executive Vice Chairman of the Board until April 2016.

From 2006 to 2011, Warner served as President and COO of Cinemark. In January of 2012, Warner became the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member in 2014 to lead the company’s efforts in becoming the number one attended theatrical exhibition company in the world. He stepped down as the CEO in August of 2015 to become Vice Chairman of the Board. Today with his leadership, Cinemark is one of the leading exhibition companies in the world, operating 504 theatres, with 5794 screens in 14 countries.

Throughout his career, Warner has been active in several industry organizations including NATO, Variety, and Will Rogers and has been a featured speaker in industry conferences throughout the world. Warner’s unique career has led him from a small regional exhibitor in the U.S., working as the head of California Trade Association, to heading up the industry convention as the industry was transitioning to a global platform and the honor of heading up one of the leading exhibition company’s, Cinemark, and teams in the world.

As head of Cinemark, Warner had the honor of leading the team that raised millions of dollars for the Variety Children’s Charity, via the industry Gold Heart Campaign, and for Will Rogers and substantial funds for the Pioneers effort. In addition to these efforts, through Cinemark’s annual charity golf tournament, the company raised hundred of thousands of dollars each year for Food Banks and a Variety of Charities that serve the various communities where they operate theatres throughout the United States.

Warner is a proud graduate of Western Montana University and resides in Dallas with his wife Winifred (Windy) Warner.
