Japanese Producer Masakazu Kubo to Receive “MPA Asia-Pacific Copyright Educator Award” at CineAsia

NEW YORK, NY – Mr. Masakazu Kubo, Director and Board Member Shogakukan Inc., and Senior Vice President Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co. Ltd., will receive the “Motion Picture Association Asia-Pacific Copyright Educator (ACE) Award” at the CineAsia Awards Ceremony on Thursday, 13 December 2018 at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong.

Masakazu Kubo graduated from the Waseda University School of Education. He has spent his career working for the Japanese publishing and entertainment conglomerate Shogakukan in various creative, editorial and production capacities. Mr. Kubo spent many years contributing to the success of the incredibly popular comic Coro Coro, which was then adapted into the Doreamon television and film franchise. He now services as a Director and Board Member of the company. He has developed a keen interest in the protection of creative content and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Intellectual Property Association of Japan. He is a visiting professor at the Beijing Film Academy, a corporate executive at the Anime Times Company, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Mike Ellis, President & Managing Director Asia Pacific, Motion Picture Association, will also be awarded with the “Special Recognition Award” at the CineAsia Summit in honor of his service to the industry.

Fu Ruoqing to Receive “Distributor of the Year Award” at CineAsia

Lin Shaye to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at CineAsia

James Wan & Leigh Whannell to Receive the 2017 Franchise Achievement Award for Insidious at CineAsia

The duo’s fourth film in the Insidious franchise which they co-created, Insidious: The Last Key, is set to be released in cinemas in Asia beginning in early January. Whannell will be on hand to accept the award.

Graham W. Burke to Receive “MPA Asia-Pacific Copyright Educator” Award at CineAsia

NEW YORK, NY – Graham W. Burke, Co-Executive Chairman, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Village Roadshow Limited, will receive the “MPA Asia-Pacific Copyright Educator” (ACE) Award at the CineAsia Awards Ceremony on Thursday, 14 December 2017 at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong.

“Graham has made a huge impact in Australia promoting the need for strong copyright to best protect the jobs and work of those in the film and television industry,” stated Andrew Sunshine, President of The Film Expo Group. “We are delighted to partner with the MPA to give this award each year.
